THE BRIEF

Klarna have it all. 60 million customers and counting, an awesome brand and bucketloads of fame thanks to their ‘Get Smoooth’ campaign featuring Snoop Dogg. Their only problem is many potential consumers don’t know what they actually do.

We were asked to solve this problem by communicating how Klarna allows people to shop and pay on their own terms at over 130,000 merchant partners.

APPROACH

The 'Get Smoooth' platform set Klarna apart in the financial services world, but for shoppers it wasn’t explicit enough. We asked ourselves, what’s the real benefit that the Klarna product delivered?

We landed on 'Payment Empowerment’ – allowing consumers to ‘Get Smoooth’ by shopping and paying on their own terms.

THE WORK

We hijacked a common rhyming mnemonic, ‘see you later, alligator’, using it to explain Klarna’s offer. This made it really simple for consumers to remember Klarna’s pay later service. The campaign also served to highlight the huge amount of big name fashion brands Klarna has partnered with, helping to build consumer confidence. This work was then brought to life across OOH in major UK shopping locations.
