International Women’s day talk

Intercomms LGBT Network and Forever Beta are excited to present a very special talk for International Women's day - celebrating queer women in creative industries.

Many women feel marginalised and invisible, even in industries as open and forward-thinking as the creative sector. Unfortunately queer women have even more to contend with. We want to discuss how this can impact career progression, affect work mental health and how we can come together to improve this, both for now and for the next generation.

International Women's Day falls on Friday 8th March 2019 (don’t worry I had to look it up too) the event will be held in partnership with Forever Beta, 25 Holywell Row, EC2A 4XE and hosted by Tete Bang.

We have an amazing collection of guests and a fabulous host, Tete Bang a cabaret performer who exploded on the scene in 2012 ending up as a finalist in the infamous Madame JoJos Burlesque Idol. From her outrageous and risque burlesque and queer drag shows to her productions and promotion of some of Londons most loved night life hot spots, she has worked with some awesome clients such as YouTube, Google, Years and Years, Jodie Harsh and Latitude Festival to name just a few and we can't wait to hear her take on the topic.

We will also be getting an insight from Forever Beta's own Olivia Stancombe, a Strategist and Futurist entering advertising via the worlds of design, luxury Parisian fashion and consumer trends consultancy. Named as one of Campaign's 'Faces To Watch : The Future of the Ad Industry 2017', she has previously spoken at the BFI's 'Women With A Movie Camera Summit 2018' about the Future of Feminist Marketing and continues to try to practice what she preached.

Daphna Rowe the Founder of Lovorika, a Scent Lifestyle brand rooted in natural perfumery and aromatherapy will be sharing her experiences from the music industry through to her passion project come side hustle in perfumery. She has a Masters in Psychology, is certified in Aromatherapy and has studied the ancient art of natural perfumery and incense making. She is fighting to make fragrance and beauty labels more transparent; and alongside Breast Cancer Prevention Partners’ ‘Right to Know’ study, she is raising awareness on the dangers of synthetic fragrance.

Last, but not least we have Celeste Guinness letting us into the interesting world of music, not only is she big in the game at PIAS as their Digital Strategy Manager but she also runs countless successful queer nights with strong ties to Dalston Superstore where her popular night Female Trouble takes place, a monthly lesbian night where they say making trouble is encouraged – we can't wait to see what happens.
